Happy Birthday Coach

Happy Birthday to Coach Wooden who turns 98 today. Coach is well known for winning 10 NCAA Championships at UCLA. What many people don’t know about Coach was that he was also a 3-time All-American guard at Purdue University, and was named College Basketball Player of the Year in 1932 after helping to lead Purdue to the NCAA Championship.

Chase:
Charlotte marked the half-way point of the Chase – Kyle finished in 4th, Martin in 14th, and Dale Jr. in 36th after blowing a tire early in the race.  Kyle moved up two spots to 9th in the Chase standings, Dale Jr. remained in 10th, and Martin is in 17th in the non-Chase points.

Happy B-Day

Happy Birthday to Dale Jr., who turns 34 today. Since making his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut at age 24, Dale Jr. has recorded 18 wins, 85 top-five finishes, 135 top-10s and eight pole positions. He has logged 91,292 laps and led 6,381.

Chase Update:
A rough day on the guys at Talladega in the Amp Energy 500. It started with big possibilities as Martin, Kyle, and Dale Jr.  ran at or near the front early all leading laps, then Martin got caught in a wreck on lap 68 and would end up in 41st place.

Chase Update:
Dale Jr.  finished in 13th, Kyle in 28th, and Martin in 43rd yesterday at Kansas. Dale Jr. moved up one spot to 8th, Kyle remained in 12th, and Martin dropped one to 16th. Amazing what has happened to Kyle the last three weeks, after dominating for the first 26 weeks – never would have guessed he would struggle with mechanical problems the way he has.

David Beckham in Chicago:
David and the Galaxy were in Chicago to play the Fire on Thursday, but they fell 3-1. “That’s soccer,” David said after the game. “Some days are good and some are bad. We need to pick ourselves up from here. We are running out of games.”
