Duke Preseason Ranking:
The preseason basketball rankings are out and Duke was #5 in the coaches USA Today/ESPN poll, and #8 in the writers AP poll. They won their first exhibition game over Virginia Union 114-50, and play another exhibition game this Wednesday vs. Lenoir-Rhyne. IndyCar Finishes in Surfers Paradise:
IndyCar finished off their 2008 season with a non-points race on Saturday in the Nikon Indy 300 held at Surfers Paradise street course in Australia. Scott, the 2008 Series Champion, made it back-to-back photo finishes coming in 2nd by 0.5019 seconds. Danica was got collected in another driver’s accident early and finished in 18th place. The series is back in action next year beginning at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on April 5th.
David Gets 107th Cap
David picked up his 107th cap last Wednesday in a 3-1 England victory over Belarus. 1966 World Cup winning captain Bobby Moore is up next with a 108 caps. It was also announced last week that Beckham has been appointed a vice president for England’s bid to stage the 2018 World Cup.
Chase Update
The guys hit Martinsville this weekend and Dale Jr. scored his best finish of the Chase coming in 2nd, Martin had a good run coming home in 9th, and Kyle was snake bitten again finishing in 29th. Up next will be the Pep Boys Auto 500 in Atlanta on the 26th.

Happy Birthday to Coach Wooden who turns 98 today. Coach is well known for winning 10 NCAA Championships at UCLA. What many people don’t know about Coach was that he was also a 3-time All-American guard at Purdue University, and was named College Basketball Player of the Year in 1932 after helping to lead Purdue to the NCAA Championship.

Chase:
Charlotte marked the half-way point of the Chase – Kyle finished in 4th, Martin in 14th, and Dale Jr. in 36th after blowing a tire early in the race. Kyle moved up two spots to 9th in the Chase standings, Dale Jr. remained in 10th, and Martin is in 17th in the non-Chase points.

Happy Birthday to Dale Jr., who turns 34 today. Since making his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut at age 24, Dale Jr. has recorded 18 wins, 85 top-five finishes, 135 top-10s and eight pole positions. He has logged 91,292 laps and led 6,381.
