Featured FWA Wallpaper!

Posted by Team UT on January 21st, 2009   Interactive, UnCommon News

I’d like to thank the FWA (Rob Ford and everyone else behind the scenes) for featuring my FWA STEAK wallpaper today! The idea and inspiration behind the wallpaper is kind of funny.

One day I took a nap, woke up and I was craving steak for some reason. I had been thinking about doing an FWA Wallpaper for awhile but I just never got around to it. So, the combination of my hunger for a steak that day and my desire to design an FWA Wallpaper merged into one to create a tasty visual treat, lol.

A Snowblower Promotion?

Posted by Team UT on January 16th, 2009   Interactive

Our office is located downtown Chicago in the River North area, so for most of us it’s easiest to take the bus or L into work during winter. I ran into this video today and thought it was pretty cool. I was intrigued by this idea of the user being able to interact via webcam. User Interactions like this are just awesome and awe inspiring. It’s just amazing how they do this stuff.

“What appears to be little more than a black and white advertisement in three recent German automotive magazines becomes a 3D holographic model of the Mini Cabrio through a webcam and the Mini website. Sure, it still takes a good deal of effort on the user’s part (they have to go somewhere other than the main ad to really see the ad)…”

40 Creative Print Ads

Posted by Team UT on January 9th, 2009   Advertising, UnCommon News

I stumbled upon these 40 very creative print ads today. My favorites are 4, 5, 17, 19, 20, 31, 33, 35, and 37 simply because of the creativity behind them. Even if you hate ads, you can’t help but love these; all with the help of a little program called Adobe Photoshop baby.

“Tribes”

Posted by Team UT on January 9th, 2009   Advertising, Books

Seth Godin’s new book “Tribes” follows his previous titles template: no TOC, short (147 pages), and kind of all over the place. He acknowledges as much near the end by writing, “People might say that it’s too disorganized or not practical enough….” On to the takeaway – the book is about leadership, groups of people he calls “tribes”, and what they can do as one.
