With the season over, according to media reports this is the week where up to 1,000 jobs will be cut and numerous teams will shut down in the NASCAR garages. Throughout this last quarter of the season there have been rampant rumors about what is happening with Ford, Chevy, and Dodge teams – but what we haven’t heard about is what is going to happen with Toyota’s teams. Why – because nothing is going to happen to them, they’ll all have full manufacturer support in 2009.

NASCAR Recap:
The 2008 NASCAR season ended last night with the Ford 400 in Homestead – Martin led the way with a 10th place finish, Kyle was in 19th, and Dale Jr. had problems late to end him in 41st. Kyle ended the year in 10th, Dale Jr. in 12th, and Martin in 15th.
Interesting profile in USA Today of Guy Kawasaki. He’s currently the managing director of Garage Technology Ventures, was previously responsible for marketing the Macintosh while at Apple in the 80’s, and has written nine business books. His most recent book, “Reality Check”, aims to help entrepreneurs by looking at the lessons learned from his failures.
The article also features five tips from Guy for would-be entrepreneurs, including: “You can’t let the bozos grind you down. Most of the time, seemingly smart and rich people are gonna tell you it can’t be done. If you listen to them, you’ll never try.”
Chase Update:
Dale Jr. and Kyle had good runs yesterday at Phoenix finishing in 6th and 8th place. Martin had an engine problem and went out in 43rd. The season wraps up next weekend in Homestead-Miami. Kyle had two other runs over the weekend coming in 2nd in the Truck Series race on Friday, and 5th in the Nationwide series race on Saturday.
Blue Devils:
Duke beat Lenoir-Rhyne 95-42 last Wednesday night in an exhibition game at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The season starts tonight with a 7:00PM(EST) tip vs. Presbyterian at Cameron.

Duke Preseason Ranking:
The preseason basketball rankings are out and Duke was #5 in the coaches USA Today/ESPN poll, and #8 in the writers AP poll. They won their first exhibition game over Virginia Union 114-50, and play another exhibition game this Wednesday vs. Lenoir-Rhyne.
