Happy Birthday to Coach Wooden who turns 98 today. Coach is well known for winning 10 NCAA Championships at UCLA. What many people don’t know about Coach was that he was also a 3-time All-American guard at Purdue University, and was named College Basketball Player of the Year in 1932 after helping to lead Purdue to the NCAA Championship.

Chase:
Charlotte marked the half-way point of the Chase – Kyle finished in 4th, Martin in 14th, and Dale Jr. in 36th after blowing a tire early in the race. Kyle moved up two spots to 9th in the Chase standings, Dale Jr. remained in 10th, and Martin is in 17th in the non-Chase points.

Happy Birthday to Dale Jr., who turns 34 today. Since making his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut at age 24, Dale Jr. has recorded 18 wins, 85 top-five finishes, 135 top-10s and eight pole positions. He has logged 91,292 laps and led 6,381.

With the recent Microsoft ad campaign launch and news that Alex Bogusky will be authoring a diet book, i thought it was a good time to revisit the book by Crispin Porter Bogusky – “Hoopla”. Originally released in late 2006, the book written with Warren Berger provides an inside look at the philosophy and work of the agency. At 432 pages, the book seems big, but includes a lot of pages filled with images of their work, so it’s not a long read.

Chase Update:
A rough day on the guys at Talladega in the Amp Energy 500. It started with big possibilities as Martin, Kyle, and Dale Jr. ran at or near the front early all leading laps, then Martin got caught in a wreck on lap 68 and would end up in 41st place.
The 2nd Annual BusinessWeek “Power 100″ poll ranking the most powerful people in sports is now out with Tiger Woods taking the top spot.
