Danica Season Summary

Posted by Team UT on September 21st, 2008   UnCommon News

This year I was able to go see a few of Danica’s races, including the Indy 500. It wasn’t a great season, but she got her first win. She recently had a chance to sit down and summarize her season and give thanks to her fans. You can read her full journal entry at www.danicaracing.com > News Desk > Journals.
“…First of all I want to thank all my fans for being so supportive, you guys and gals are GREAT! Yes I do hear you cheering!!”

Ernie Davis – Nike

Posted by Team UT on September 18th, 2008   Sports Marketing

A little uproar over the new statue honoring Ernie Davis on the Syracuse campus because the sculptor, Bruno Lucchesi, put the swoosh on his shoes. Historically its not correct, so media and blog writers are thinking Nike must have done a deal. Not so says AD Daryl Gross – just a mistake and will be fixed.

The Chase started in New Hampshire yesterday and it started off good for Kyle leading early laps, but a broken sway bar and an accident cost him any chance at a good finish coming in 34th. He dropped from 1st to 7th in the overall standings. He would have dropped to the 12th, but the 80 bonus points he picked up for wins during the regular season helped him here.

Lance Goes For #8

Posted by Team UT on September 10th, 2008   Sports Marketing

Congrats to Lance on his announcement to come back to competitive cycling and go for an 8th Yellow Jersey. Cycling has been hit hard overseas and in the US (Tyler Hamilton – Floyd Landis) with drug accusations and outings, and Lance will bring it some needed exposure. We did two projects for Lance during his Yellow dominance, so we’ll definitely be watching his comeback closely.

Many (press and naysayers) will try and belittle him with more accusations, but with a planned open testing program and production crew documenting his every move, we’re looking forward to seeing Lance on the podium next July in Yellow of course and basically shoving it to anyone who thought he did it before with a shortcut.

Sampras – Still!

With Roger Federer taking the US Open title yesterday making for a total of 13 GS titles, it was only a matter of time before the yahoos in the media put out columns/blogs/whatever asking who is the greatest. Fact is until someone gets 15 – Pete is and will always be The Greatest in tennis. Why even waste an entire column on the question? Federer has 13, Pete has 14 – so yea Pete is the Greatest. Federer goes and gets 14 he’ll be in the same sentence. He gets 15 he lays claim to The Greatest. Common Sense was a class that a lot people missed in school….
